The Heart Beat of One Little Navey Bean

Just before I had my wisdom teeth taken out my wife and I went in for our third maternity doctor's appointment. We weren't really sure what to expect, we knew that we couldn't find out the sex of our child until September 25 but, we had completely forgotten that we hadn't heard the heart beat yet!

When we went for our first ultrasound we were just barely seven and a half weeks so it was too early to hear our little Navey bean.

I was caught a little off-guard but managed to break out my iPhone quickly enough to record the fast paced beating of our little baby's heart. It was exciting and sentimental all at the same time; realizing that we would never have that moment again. It was perfect and it reminded me how delicate pregnancy truly is. I've attached a short sound clip of our little somebody's heart beat. Try to ignore my giggles of excitement and listen for the "pterodactyl" wings flapping in the background.

Lauren & Adrian

The last week or so has been a HUGE challenge for me. I've been nested on the couch, half way doped with pain killers and nursing Jello pudding cups. While I'm a big fan of taking time to relax and unwind I've been really anxious to get back to having a normal schedule that involves solid food and getting things done. This weekend was a lot of fun for my wife and I. On Thursday we celebrated four great years of being married and on Friday evening we made the trip down to Charleston, SC to shoot Lauren and Adrian's E-Shoot. Although I'm just getting started with my edits I couldn't help but post a few from our shoot before I finish. Lauren and Adrian are just two months away from their big day and it was obvious! They were unbelievably excited and made Charleston look even nicer! I'll post a few more later but for now enjoy and have a great week!

Christianne & Daniel Engagement

I'm still making my way back from my surgery and it's been interesting. I'm healing fairly well I'm just anxious to get back into the grove of things. While I'm getting back up to speed I wanted to go ahead and post a few shots from Christianne and Daniel's E-Shoot. We had an amazing evening to shoot and I could not have asked for better weather. I'm also moving forward with my new logo and branding courtesy of Anoroc Agency. They've been great to work with and I'm excited about the new brand. I'll be sure to post more often in the next week as I start to feel a little more like myself.

It's going to hurt.....a little

I didn't really feel like I wanted a picture to accompany this post...it just seemed too weird. I'm having my wisdom teeth extracted...at least that's what the Oral Surgeon said. I think what he meant to say was that he had plans to completely drug me, bar my mouth wide open and drill into my head with tools that would even make the CIA blush. But I trust him and he seems like a really nice guy. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to the whole thing but better now then later. I will be out of touch by phone for a few days. A couple of my teeth are impacted...really impacted and apparently that warrants the use of weapons of mass destruction. So I'm anticipating a few days of watching movies while loopy on painkillers. It's just better that I don't discuss business during those moments. But my wife will be keeping an eye on emails and helping me out with client info over the next few days. So if anything comes up or if you're interested in more information don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm looking forward to posting "post-op" because I've got a lot of great shots from different shoots to share. Take care and check back often! All the best.

3 months and counting

It seems like yesterday that my wife, Laura, and I were married on August 20, 2005. I can remember everything I ate that day, what cologne I was wearing and the excitement of watching my beautiful bride as she walked down the aisle to a strings version of Five For Fighting's 100 Years. But it wasn't yesterday, it was almost four years ago! Just before my wife and I left for Thailand we witnessed our first child's little heart beat as it flashed on the screen at our first ultrasound! We were beyond what words could describe. I have never felt so protective, joyful and unworthy all at once. It really is an amazing God centered experience to actually see your first child for the first time! As you can imagine we've been asked a lot of questions, but let me first say that my wife is tough as nails. She managed 16 days in Thailand with foods, smells and heat that no woman should have to experience in her first trimester and she never once complained. She stuck it out through rough airplane landings and uncomfortable layovers in airports where air conditioning is an after thought. Oh there were days that she wanted to just crawl up and sleep away the nausea but she found a way to get through it, eat and prepare her heart for riding in a hot Sun Tau all over Chiang Mai looking for an opportunity to share her faith. I am confident that my wife will be a great mother.

From the moment we told our family, Father's day, we've been asked a lot of questions.
But out of all of the questions we've received the three most popular are:

1. Do you want to know what you're having?

2. Do you have any names picked out?

3. What do you hope you're having?

To answer the first question, YES!!! YES, YES, YES, YES!!! We can't meet to our little sidekick! Which means we can't wait to get our nursery ready. No yellow or green walls for this baby, we're going to coordinate based on gender. That doesn't mean we're doing either pink or blue it just means it'll either be masculine or feminine depending on the sex of our child.

Do we have names picked out....since the moment we realized we wanted to get married! Laura and I are more than planners we're day dreamers who dream about planning. A little intense, I know, but we love anticipating all of the great things God has planned for our lives whether they're good or bad. Although we have a few names that we really like we're always thinking through the "best" possible name for our new little baby. There are not a whole lot of names that go well with "Navey" so we have to really think it through.

What do we hope we're having....a BABY! If we get a little dinosaur I'll be disappointed. We don't care if we have a boy or a girl just as long as it's breathing and it likes to be hugged! We realize that there are a lot of risks involved with having a child and regardless of what our child develops with or without we're hopeful for a child that breathes and cries and needs us more then we could imagine.

I am certain that our child will be one of the most documented kids on the planet but until then my cute wife and her beautiful belly will have to do! We really appreciate all of the encouragement and support that we've received from our friends and family and can't wait to meet our little baby.
